SOMETIMES YOU WANT TO GO. WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME.

La Casita Tea Room, (1940 circa) located at 3540 Main Highway was such a place in Coconut Grove. Owned by Grace & Bob Ously for many years. Back then, some folks still called the town My-Ah-Mah and the iced tea was always sweeten, so no need to ask. The menu was Southern home-cooked meals and so was the charm. The kind of place where you could linger over coffee and pie in the front room. Or.. host your big party in the back room with all the fixings.

Today this spot is home to Ariete Restaurant, Grove Garden Condos selling for $700K upstairs and Taurus Beer & Whiskey House next door.

No doubt this corner has plenty of great history.
But today, we are longing for a mythical family friendly spot to call our very own. If Miss Grace was around, she’d bring us fried chicken & a pitcher of cold beer delivered with a warm smile.

Making your way in the world today.
Takes everything you got.
Taking a break from all your worries.
It sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
(Cheers theme song)
